Top Trails King of Deep Weekend Recap
The Top Trails King of Deep event turned into a full weekend of mud, racing, trail riding, and real-world tire testing for Team Terache.
We made the several-hour drive from our home base in Florida up to Top Trails Off Road Park on Friday. Most of the day was spent on the road, and while the weather was a little rainy, it actually worked out in our favor. The trails were wet, but they were not dusty, which made for a great day of riding.
Once we unloaded, we hit the trails with Vessel Powersports and the King of the Deep crew. The terrain had a little bit of everything: hill climbs, rocks, technical sections, and plenty of challenging off-road trails.
Our test Honda Talon was running 34-inch Terache Aztec XX tires. These tires were not exactly built for rocky hill climbs, but they still handled every trail with ease.

Honda Talon con the rocks? yes please!
This was also our first ride on the new 28x9.5-12 Terache Aztec XL tires. We had them mounted on our new Honda Rubicon 700 test unit, which was also running our new gear reduction setup.
The Rubicon did awesome all weekend. Since it was only on 28-inch tires, it was at a little bit of a disadvantage in some of the deeper ruts, especially compared to the larger tire setups at the event. Even so, the machine was able to go everywhere we pointed it, and it was a lot of fun to ride. This first test ride gave us a great look at how the 28x9.5-12 Aztec XL handles real-world mud, ruts, and technical off-road terrain.

The next morning, we got up early and set up for the event. There was a lot of great racing, and the mud holes were just as gnarly as the last time we were at Top Trails. Fortunately, all of our machines made it through, and Team Terache came home with three trophies.
Sid from Vessel Powersports took first place in the Honda Solid Axle class while running 33-inch Terache Aztec XL tires. He also had a huge jump during the event, making it one of the standout moments of the weekend.
One of the most exciting parts of the event was watching two newer riders in the kids’ class finish first and second, both running Terache Aztec XX tires. They were very happy with how their tires performed, and that is what it is all about. For more details on those wins, check out our Facebook page.
After the King of Deep event, we loaded up the trailer and headed down to Boggs and Boulders with the Vessel Powersports crew. We threw our test Talon on Sid’s trailer and rolled out.
We ended up riding late into the night at Boggs and Boulders, hitting some seriously nasty mud holes with the Talon. It was raining, the trails were sloppy, and we were slinging clay everywhere. The Talon took a beating and kept ripping through the trails well into the night.
Doing two major off-road parks in one day was a little crazy, but we had friends at both places and did not want to leave anyone out.
Overall, it was an awesome weekend full of mud, racing, trail riding, trophies, tire testing, and good people.
